Be a Square!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Centerpieces serve many purposes; brings attention to an otherwise bland table, built in door prize for guests, and just looks so pretty!  You can do inexpensive centerpieces, without looking cheap.  A simple and understated centerpiece can still speak volumes:

 elegant…

whimsical…

sophisticated…

 dainty…

natural…

These square glass vases can be bought in bulk at my favorite discount retailer, the DollarTree.

Sold in a case of 12 for $12

River rocks sold in a case of 16 for $16.

Colored glass rocks I have seen in the store for a $1 per packet.  However, I couldn’t find them sold in bulk online :(

I did find them at my other favorite craft store save-on-crafts.com

$1.49 /pk (24 or more packs. Otherwise, $2.09/pk)

Flowers can be either silk or fresh blossoms from your mom’s garden (or neighbor’s, I won’t tell!).

Visit a store today and I promise you can make a beautiful centerpiece for under $3 each!

Just Rosy!

How cute is this!?  Martha Stewart is just a genious!  Check out this creative way to fold regular dinner napkins into cute colorful roses.  If pink doesn’t fit your theme, switch up the color!

After some researching I found TableLinensforLess.com and they have quality clearanced cloth napkins in a gazillion different colors for dirt cheap!

$0.83 per napkin for 60+ napkins

$0.99 per napkin for 12-59 napkins

$1.25 per napkin for 1-11 napkins

If this is something you want to do for your own Quince, I suggest you snap these up ASAP before they’re gone!  They also have other inexpensive clearance items such as table linens and cute chair treatments for your special seat!

Sweet Idea!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

When we have to explain to people not in the know what a Quince is, without getting into all the history and tradition (that could take hours to do it justice!) we pretty much call it a mini-wedding.  So if it’s a mini-wedding, why can’t we incorporate wedding ideas into a Quince?!  The latest wedding favor craze is offering a sweet smorgasbord to your guests. At realsimple.com I found this colorful and yummy party idea:

Instead of a keepsake favor that may got lost or tossed, how about giving your guests a chance to make their own treat bag favor! What a sweet idea! ;p Check out your local Sweet Factory or Costco to price the treats they have available. And if on a budget, try the Dollar Tree.  You can contact them to buy brand name candies in bulk at deep discounts! They also sell party supplies, wedding stuff, and tons of other things you may need!

Do me a favor!

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I am obsessed with the DollarTree! Last July I used these awesome tin mini pail favor containers for a cousin’s Wedding Shower.  I bought some cute printed ribbons and cup cake paper liners that coordinated with the theme colors then filled them with bright jelly beans.  They were super cute and were an absolute hit.  Of course you can fill them with just about anything you can think of!

$1/3 pk, also sold in a bulk case of 72 pks

p.s. If I remember, I will try and recreate the favor I did as a visual. ;)

A Pressing Matter!

Remember Lee Press-On Nails?

Then came the Instant Brows stencils.

The make up industry has always tried to develop the most innovative, fool proof make up application tools and products.  In the times of fast food and Fast and the Furious, let me introduce you to the ColorOn Professional EyeEnvy:

Press on, then peel off a ready shaded, color coordinated, and blended shadow.  This product gives the 5 Minute look a whole other meaning! For $25 to $35, you can get a kit of 8 to 20 applications with different shades.  To complete the kit, you also get a small brush and setting powder.  There are numerous kits with different styles ranging from natural to smokey.  This product might be perfect for those of you just learning to apply make up for the first time.  You can also find this product at Sephora or Sephora.com.

MyQuince!

What about a unique way to invite your friends to your Quince!?  Are you a myspacer or facebooker?? Dedicate a page just for your Quince.  Make it your temporary #1 friend and post a bulletin or blog on your main page to tell all your friends about it.  The profile should be set to private, so if anyone wants to be invited to the big bash, they have to request to be your Quince page’s friend.  You can make your guest list based on accepting or rejecting people.  V.I.P status! You can also choose your Court de Honor by placing them as your top friends.  Then post pictures and blogs about your planning process.  Also put your gift wish list on there! Share links to the location of the church, reception location plus other vendor info. They’ll appreciate the shout out (hint hint).  Inviting guests this way is not only unique, it is also cheap. Free to be exact!

Spring Fling!

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Isn’t this just the most charming idea from Martha Stewart for an outdoor Quince? Just in time for the spring too!

You can definitely recreate this adorable decor with a few inexpensive craft items and paper lanterns.  At my favorite craft website, Save-On-Crafts.com, you can find a package of ten of these paper lanterns for only $11! That’s $1.10 each for my math genuises out there!

And if you have a theme color in mind, they don’t just have white!  Don’t forget the mariposas!  These are 12 for $17.88 ($1.49 each!).

Who says you can’t do it better and cheaper yourself?  Get your artsy hat on girls!
