Beauty in Bulk!

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Ladies, ladies! While shopping at Costco tonight, I ran into this…

Holy Smashbox Batman! For only $19.99… You get a cute black compact with a four shade palette of neutral colors…

Clockwise from top left; a medium pink shade, a taupe shade, a pale yellow shade, and a dark brown shade.

A sample packet of Photo Finish foundation primer…

A good sized tube of Skin Tint in Radiance (LOVE THIS!)

Three adorable doll sized lipglosses in…

The lipglosses come with a cute patent leather pink case which snugly fits all three glosses…

Oh, and it has a tiny mirror!

and finally sample sized tubes of their Layer Lash Primer and That’s a Wrap Mascara in black.

 Burp!

This package is a perfect starter kit for anyone wanting to try Smashbox products without committing to the full sized prices.  The color combination is user friendly and perfect for any skin tone and eye color.  It was such a steal, I couldn’t pass it up. It was so hard to decide between this or the Stila package they had for $15.99, which sold at Nordstrom’s for about $40! Being that I have tried more Smashbox products than Stila, my choice was obvious. But now that I keep chatting about it I think I will back tomorrow to get the Stila package! I better see you there!!

When it comes to your Quince look, will you cut corners or will you splurge for your one special day? With make up, you have to make the right decision for your own Quince style. Otherwise, the proof will show up in the pictures (the only thing that will surely last from the fiesta!). Check out this awesome 88 color eyeshadow palette from Coastal Scents!  Only $24.95!

Now if you can’t create a knock out look with shimmering options like this, I don’t know what to tell ya!  They also have other palette combinations to choose from such as a neutral palette or a palette with blushes and eyeshadows.  If you want to see these palettes in action, log onto youtube and search those make up tutorials we mentioned earlier.

Do-It-Yourself Beauty!

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Did you know that easy make up application and hair styling lessons taught by everyday average girls like you is available at your very own fingertips? I am sure everyone has heard of youtube, right?!  For those of you who may not know, youtube hosts video clips made by real people for the whole world to see.  While searching through the videos, I found make up and hair tutorials! So far my top three favorite youtube make up mavens are:

Leesha AKA xsparkage

Leesha’s cute, quirky, honest, and has a wealth of make up knowledge beyond her 20 years.  Leesha does live video, which means you are watching her work her magic as she explains her technique and talks about the products and tools she uses.  Miss xsparkage has also just launched her own website providing a make-up blog and photo gallery. Also on her resume is a hair accessory website completely dedicated to the cutest handmade bows. Check it: http://www.discodolliesbows.com www.xsparkage.com

Jody AKA monroemisfitmakeup

Jody is a unique, ultra-talented, and insanely beautiful blonde bombshell. Miss Jody is awesome at interpreting make up looks and remaking them in her own style.  Jody provides still photos with visual text explaining her techniques.  Who needs talking? A picture is worth a thousand words, right?!

Viznuk Svetlana AKA nirenya

Best European import. Viznuk is also very talented and has an awesome trick to recreate crease depth and eye shape with just a basic eyeliner pencil and small smudge brush. She also has her own website plastered with beautiful photos of her looks.  Viznuk does a combination of live video and still photos. Scope it: http://www.beautyart.com.ua/en/I highly suggest you watch and learn. What a great way to pick up some great tips or find that perfect look you’ve been searcing for for your Quince!  Another great thing is that since these video MUAs are real people, they take requests.  So, if they don’t have what you’re looking for, make a request!! Plus, it’s free! That’s gotta be great for the budget! But if you’re still unsure, some of the girls are free lance make up artists looking for new clients.  So check for local MUAs and have your parents give them a ring! Please stay tuned for suggestions for hair styling experts!
